Ethnic Quotas and Representation of Minorities in Local Politics in BiH

In cooperation with Zentrum für Demokratie Aarau of the University of Zurich, Analitika is implementing the research project "Ethnic Quotas and Representation of Minorities in Local Politics in BiH" in 2012/2013.

This project aims to answer several important questions relating to the effects of 'ethnic quotas' on the issue of political representation of minorities at the local level in Bosnia and Herzegovina. More precisely, the research focuses on practical implementation of ethnic quotas and corresponding political strategies developed around this mechanism. Furthermore, the aim of this project is to evaluate the extent to which quotas affect actual representation of minorities and their inclusion in decision-making processes at the local level, especially in policy areas that may affect them.

The project “Ethnic Quotas and Representation of Minorities in Local Politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, through the SCOPES 2009 – 2012 (Scientific cooperation between Eastern Europe and Switzerland) program.
