Bio

Dr. Edin Hodzic is a co-founder of the Center for Social Research Analitika. After more than seven years in Analitika, since January 2019 he has been working as Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law (Heidelberg, Germany). He is also an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism, McGill University Law School. He holds a Ph.D. in international and comparative law from the Institute for Comparative Law, Faculty of Law, McGill University (Montreal, Canada), where he studied as an O'Brien Fellow. After graduating from the Faculty of Law of University of Sarajevo, he received his Master's Degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford (with the support of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Open Society Institute joint scholarship scheme). From 2006 to 2010, he was an editor and the  Editor-in-Chief of the “Pulse of Democracy” bi-monthly online magazine (www.pulsdemokratije.net), published by Open Society Fund BiH. From 2002 to 2005, Edin worked as a project coordinator at Mediacentar Sarajevo, upon which he took up a post of an analyst at the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His expertise and research interests are mostly related to international law, international human rights law, and constitutional law, with a focus on theory and practice of collective and minority rights, legal aspects of democratic transitions and transitional justice in general. He was engaged as a consultant by a number of national and international organizations, has designed and participated in various research projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the broader region, and has published a number of articles, books and reports on various topics in the fields of his expertise.
